Top Form Ep. 6 (The Johnny) trended worldwide at no. 9.
I CALLED THAT. The minute last night's episode stopped I absolutely KNEW it would trend.
And what's amazing about it is that I 100% believe that all of those trends were organic. It's because they've been building that momentum since the first episode. Here's why I think so:
-The show has had very little promotion prior to its release (one photoshoot for the posters, no pilot--just a bunch of teasers lifted directly from the trailer, and a presscon attended by media reps and a handful of fans). Japan had better promotion for this show than Thailand itself, with merch bundles for the show and the original manga, and even inviting the stars to interact with the manga's fans. But that's the way it usually goes for many WeTV Originals because they're new to producing original content in Thailand. Since most of their material is outsourced and varied, they find no need to conquer the market and let other producers worry about it instead.
-WeTV gave it a midweek schedule. In Asia, a midweek schedule is reserved for the filler shows-- shows that the producer thinks may not do too well, or they think may be offensive to a general audience. Weekends are reserved for their heavy hitters and crowd pleasers. This is also the reason why many LGBTQ+ shows air on weekdays-- producers are usually gearing for the potential backlash. Granted, Top Form was placed in a primetime slot at 8 pm Thai time, so it does show that WeTV was banking on it doing well for weekday numbers at least.
-Both Smart and Boom have virtually no fandom to speak of prior to this release. Smart has had very few acting roles in his career, and his music is new too--having switched from agency to agency in the course of three years. Boom, the more seasoned of the two, was largely absent from the spotlighlight for the past 4-5 years. Chains of Heart, his main lead role in half a decade, was critically-panned and did not get the numbers the channel was hoping for (but it was good, I promise. The pacing was just completely off).
With a new show like this and having nothing to show for it, the producers must either be banking on the popularity of its source material, or the shock value that comes with having NCs and questionable storylines. That's why they were expecting the honey episode to trend (similar to how the first NC scene in Love in the Air catapulted the show from unknown to runaway hit).
But it didn't. It did for a bit, but not as high as ep 6. Instead, what saved this show is the talent of its leads, and the utter pleasure of having a show with great cinematography, fleshed out character arcs, and a steady pacing (did you know that this was the Director P'Boss' directorial debut? Hire this dude for more shows Thailand, dear God. Give him a Mandee Channel show, fix whatever the heck is going on over there).
This is why the trend is so satisfying. It's just the audience enjoying a show for what it is-- a well-executed piece of media. That's so rare these days. And with this buzz they can ride out the show's popularity until the last episode, which could guarantee us more SmartBoom in the future (thank God).
And Top Form, never be apologetic about your storyline. Fans will either leave, wait to binge, or stay for the long haul-- that's all par for the course in any show. Just stay true to how you think this should go, and I hope you stick the landing.

Historians having takes on frev women that make me go 😐 compilation
Sexually frustrated in her marriage to a pompous civil servant much older than herself, [Madame Roland] may have found Danton’s celebrated masculinity rather uncomfortable. Danton (1978) by Norman Hampson, page 77.
The Robespierres sent their sister to Arras because that was their hometown, the family home, where they had relatives, uncles, aunts and friends, like Buissart who they didn’t cease to remain in correspondence with, even in the middle of the Terror. There, among them, Charlotte would not be alone; she would find advice, rest, the peace necessary to heal her nervousness and animosity. Away from Mme Ricard, who she hated, away from Mme Duplay, who she detested, she would enjoy auspicious calmness. It is Le Bon that the Robespierres will charge with escorting their sister to this neccessary and soothing exile. […] If there is a damning piece in Charlotte Robespierre's case, it is this one (her interrogation, held July 31 1794). She seems to be caught in the act of accusing this Maximilien whom she rehabilitates in her Memoirs. She is therefore indeed a hypocrite, unworthy of the great name she bears, and which she dishonors the very day after the holocaust of 10 Thermidor. Charlotte Robespierre et Guffroy (1910) in Annales Révolutionnaires, volume 3 (1910) page 322, and Charlotte Robespierre et ses mémoires (1909) page 93-94, both by Hector Fleishmann.
Elisabeth, as she was popularly called, was barely past her twelfth birthday, younger even by three years than Barere’s own mother when she was given in marriage. On the following day the guests assembled again in the little church of Saint-Martin at midnight to attend the wedding ceremony of the handsome charmer and the bewildered child. Dressed in white, clasping in her arms a yellow, satin-clad  doll that Bertrand had given her — so runs the tradition — she marched timidly to the altar, looking more like a maiden making her first communion than a woman celebrating a binding sacrament. Perhaps the  doll, if doll there was, filled her eye, but certainly she could not fail to note how handsome her husband was. Bertrand Barere; a reluctant terrorist (1962) by Leo Gershoy, page 32.
The young nun who bore the name of Hébert did not hide her fate. She did not wish to prolong a life stifled from her childhood in the cloister, branded in the world by the name she bore, fighting between horror and love for the memory of her husband, unhappy everywhere. Histoire des Girondins (1848) by Alphonse de Lamartine, volume 8, page 60.
Lucile in prison showed more calmness than Camille. Before the tribunal, she seemed to possess neither fear nor hope, she denied having taken an active role in the prison conspiracy. What did it matter to her the answer they were trying to extract from her? They said they wanted her guilty? Very well! She would be condemned and join Camille. This was what she said again when she was told that she would suffer the same fate as her husband: ”Oh, what joy, in a few hours I’m going to see Camille again!” Camille et Lucile Desmoulins: un couple dans la tourmente (1986) by Jean Paul Bertaud, page 293.
What did it matter to Lucile whether she was accused or defended? She had no longer any pretext for living in this world. She was one of those heroines of conjugal love who are more wife than mother. Besides, Horace lived, and Camille was dead. It was of the absent only that she thought. As for the child, would not Madame Duplessis act a mother's part to him? The grandmother would watch over the orphan. If Lucile had lived, she could have done nothing but weep over the cradle, thinking of Camille. Camille Desmoulins and his wife; passages from the history of the Dantonists founded upon new and hitherto unpublished documents (1876) by Jules Claretie.
Having been widowed at the age of 23 [sic] years, Élisabeth Duplay remarried a few years later to the adjutant general Le Bas, brother of her first husband, and kept the name which was her glory. She lived with dignity, and all those who have known her, still beautiful under her crown of white hair, have testified to the greatness of her sentiments and austerity of her character. She died at an old age, always loyal to the memory of the great dead she had loved and whose memory she, all the way to her final day, didn’t cease to honor and cherish. As for the lady of Thermidor, Thérézia Cabarrus, ex-marquise of Fontenay, citoyenne Tallien, then princess of Chimay, one knows the story of her three marriages, without counting the interludes. She had, as one knows, three husbands living at the same time. Now compare these two existances, these two women, and tell me which one merits more the respect and the sympathy of good men. Histoire de Robespierre et du coup d’état du 9 thermidor (1865) by Louis Ernest Hamel, volume 3, page 402.
Fel free to comment which one was your favorite! 😀

honestly the implication with what we know of Jeremy's home life thus far that not only is his personality not an act but that he actively chooses to be good despite being in a family where he goes out of his way to avoid his brother because the two can't see each other without conflict, where his sister won't attend his games and is mad at him for sticking with exy, and he still chooses to pursue the things he loves and do good things and be the kindest person he can be despite not being perfect and living in a house full people who seem to hate it is just such a wonderful part of his character

So, Don knows Fiora is Sicilian. He calls her Roman to mess with her, but still. He also knows that she’s partially Brazilian and refers to Sofia Valverde as her tia. However, he is confused about who is Brazilian in the family. To top it off, Fiora’s father Pietro has a close, brotherly bond with Ángel Salazar who Fiora also refers to as an uncle.
When seeing Ángel and Sofia in the same room, Don supposes the two look alike so he comes to the conclusion that they’re siblings. And thus, he concludes Fiora has a part Mexican, part Brazilian ancestor. Also, Sicilians celebrate Day of the Dead. Not knowing this cultural fact, Don's trying to lump Pietro as a third sibling for Ángel and Sofia even though Pietro doesn't look like either of them. Either way, Don speculates the family tree looking like this

can I be so open and vulnerable with you guys. the card I was given from people at my old office was sincerely so nice and really validating but also I feel like the main impression I left other people with was "she's really nice" WHICH IS GOOD, I DO WANT TO BE KNOWN AS NICE but also part of me is like... should I maybe strive for "innovative" or "creative" or "a go-getter" because being The Nice One just feels a little mealy-mouthed of me y'know?
#I think there is something to be said here for being so averse to conflict and also such a control freak that I spend incalculable energy on#making other people happy/comfortable/cool-with-me so on and so forth#like this has been a problem in past friendships too as I've grown up#and I've noticed it even online like sometimes I'll have A Take and I won't post it because I don't want to be negative about something#that someone else may like or whatever#which is GOOFY because some of my favorite people are those with strong personalities (bc it's a CLEAR VIEW of that person's personality!!)#and yet here I am like "tee hee I'm so nice everyone likes me because I'm nice anyway when I look in a mirror all i see is a blank wall''#lol y'know? and like no I certainly express opinions and express emotions other than Just Being Happy#and also any waylaid attempts at being so neutral as to not offend people uhhhhh don't work. ask me how I know#(I know because people have hated my guts on the internet before lol)#so it's like: this performance is truly for no one but yourself AND!!!! *AND* it's not even good for you because you might not actually be#being your authentic self#anyways I'm afraid to be a hater and also I'm afraid people won't like me so I try hard to make them like me#and THAT leads to me getting a very nice card about how everyone likes me and me inevitably going: but do they know and like the REAL me#lololololololol that's so goofy#anyway kids be yourselves#also what can I say I derive great pleasure from trying to be the nicest person a cashier interacts with on a given day so#idk there's a middle ground to be struck therein and I'm still navigating it

there's something really attractive about the gyaru persona/performance bc it's an investment in cuteness but a kind of cuteness that isn't necessarily rewarded

I cannot tell you how much more I trust messiness/whininess/a certain plaintiveness of tone or expression even to the point of immaturity in response to things than I do perfectly polished or pat expressions of acceptance.

me offhandedly telling a friend that i’d really like to get a few of the saw dvds from cex to add to my dvd collection but being unable to due to complications with being a minor who can’t by 18s alone, to which she responded “yeah but is it really a matter of life or death??” while i sat mouth agape gawking at the audacity she had to say such a thing.
